Tuesday 7/23/19 - We awoke on Tuesday to the gentle drumming of rain on the cabin’s roof.  With the calming patter of the shower, the grey morning, and the cobwebs from a night of beers, there was no rush to jump out of bed.  We slowly came to our senses on our own time. I brewed a pot of coffee, as we discussed our plan for the day.  Other than getting Avery to the high school for her third swimming rendezvous in as many days, we decided to have no plan.  On shore, we visited all 5 of the island’s breakfast joints, before returning to the original, “Or The Whale” After forgetting to inquire about the origins of the restaurant’s name, we sat down and promptly ordered one of everything on the menu.  An orange glazed doughnut otherwise known as their doughnut of the day, coffee cake, French toast, pancakes with real Vermont maple syrup, scrambled eggs and coffee.  
 
We needed a hearty breakfast to shake some life into all of us...at nearly 11 in the morning.

Monday 7/22/19 -“Daddy, how much longer?” Nora asked in a sing-song, yet distressed type of voice.
 
“Another few hours, sweetheart. Look, the sun is shining” I replied.
 
We are on the move once again, sailing back down Nantucket sound returning to Martha’s Vineyard after a two-day visit to the iconic island.  Currently, it’s Wednesday around 11am.  We’re motoring out of Nantucket under grey skies, locally referred to as the “Grey Lady”, in 15-20 knots of wind out of the Northeast.  We’re about to pull up to the dock to top off our water, but things are getting dicey. We nearly hit the boat next to us as we dropped the mooring lines. We are on the liveliest sail of the trip, making seven knots, now in a fifteen-knot breeze.  Perfect time to bring the world up to speed on our adventures in Nantucket.

​Sunday 7/21/19 - Waking up at anchor, after affirming our boat hadn’t moved in the night, is so pleasant.  Our “back porch” overlooks a placid harbor, filled with sailboats quietly stirring on their mooring balls.  After brewing a cup of coffee, I jumped off of Perfect Summer’s transom (the step on the stern of the boat) into the cool Atlantic.  Drying off in the rising sun, with a cup of hot coffee in hand, is a near perfect alarm clock.  We had passed a cafe on Saturday that advertised Açaí bowls and smoothies, so we skipped a large breakfast, packed for a full day of activities on land, and headed to shore in our dinghy.
